What does a CRNA Legal Consultant Do?
CRNA legal consultants review legal cases (from home) and give their opinion if a case is defendable. Depending on the CRNAs opinion, the case is pursued which involves reviewing additional documents involved in the patient's care. The CRNA then may be asked to testify in a deposition or trial.
Meet Dana Standridge, CRNA. Dana unfortunately was named in a lawsuit due to the error of a surgeon - that was NO fault of her own. As a result of this lawsuit, she was accused of patient abandonment by her state nursing board; she had consent orders placed on her licenses - in multiple states. Being the resilient CRNA that she is, Dana came out of this experience with a great attitude and a desire to help other CRNAs who found themselves in her situation. Dana became a CRNA expert witness and now defends other CRNAs who find themselves in a similar situation.
After teaching other colleagues how to become a CRNA Expert Witness, it only seemed fitting to make a curriculum and offer this opportunity to other CRNAs.
